Exhibition on the theme “Architecture in Temurid period miniatures“

Tuesday, 16 Apr 2019

Studying the architecture of Amir Temur and the Temurid era serves to illuminate the advanced period of our statehood. Some of the historical and architectural monuments of this period have survived to this day. We can see them in the examples of architectural monuments in Samarkand, Bukhara, Shahrisabz and other cities. Also, we can see different types of historical monuments, plans of gardens with their pavilions in the Temurid period, and various tile decorations used in architecture in the miniatures of that time.

In the Temurid epoch, miniature art, as well as all areas of art, was highly developed and was created as a separate work to decorate valuable royal manuscripts and decorate their chapters. These miniatures can be seen in architectural monuments, gardens and palaces, and such miniatures can provide more information about the Temurid time architecture.

In the State Museum of Temurid History, a lecture called “A bright mirror of our Independence” in connection with 27th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a new exhibition of the Associate Professor of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Design named after Kamoliddin Behzod Nafisa Gilmanova titled “Architecture in Temurid Period Miniatures” was opened at the State Museum of Temurid History.

The main purpose of the exhibition is to reveal the artistic features of the Amir Temur and the Temurid era architecture, reflected in the miniatures of that period.

The exhibition was organized on the basis of the results of N. Gilmanova’s scientific researches. In this exhibition N. Gilmanova’s authored sketches, artistic reconstitutions of architectural monuments, and artistic and scientific-historical photos based on miniature sources take place.

It is worth to admit that the visual reconstructed gardens of Amir Temur, built by the Amir Temur in Samarkand, have enriched the exhibition. These gardens and their palaces have not survived to this day. In this regard, visual restored gardens with pavilions will help viewers find out more information about the art of gardening in the Temurid epoch.

Director of the State Museum of the Temurid History, Ph.D. Kh.T.Fayziev and senior researcher of the museum, Ph.D. prof. A.Madraimov, Q.G. Gulomov, D.A. Nozilov, doctoral student of Tashkent Architectural Building Institute, docent N.Gilmanova participated with their speeches.

The exhibition is designed for the general public, which provides an opportunity to imagine the architectural art of Temurid era on the basis of miniatures survived to present days.
